Pension Sharing

Most of the time it is sorting the pensions that derails the overall financial settlement.  At some time or someone will tell you that there are tonnes of pitfalls relating to the pensions and you shouldn’t be sharing them based on their cash equivalent values.

On the whole this is true and paying little or no attention to the pensions is potentially a recipe for disaster.  In addition, it is this aspect that is likely to be vetoed by a judge signing off on a consent order if not enough time and effort is put into the pension assessment.

On a daily basis I am reading, instructing and analysing actuarial and Pension on Divorce Expert reports and so I have a unique understanding of the different methodologies and different approaches of the experts.  I understand the different alternative valuation methods they will use so I can help you to understand when to use pension offsetting.

Please note I do not undertake the actual PODE report work as this is not in my sphere of expertise.  However, by not undertaking this work I have a unique perspective on the many PODEs out there and how to instruct them.  I can do this work as a joint neutral for both parties or as a single expert for one party only.

So, if you need some help with the pension aspects of your financial settlement why not get in touch.
